Finally, a jailbreak for version 3.1.2 of the iPhone firmware exists and it is the easiest jailbreak I’ve seen so far. It took me less than 5 minutes to jailbreak, including the time it took to read the instructions.
Here’s a list of what you will need to jailbreak.
Once you have the items above, follow these steps to jailbreak.
- Update iPhone to OS 3.1.2 using iTunes.
- After iPhone is updated, start the blackra1n app. If you’re running Windows 7, make sure you choose “Windows XP (Service Pack 2)” under the compatibility mode settings under the properties tab (Right click blackra1n.exe and choose properties).
- Once blackra1n starts, click “make it ra1n”. The app will automatically reboot the iPhone and install “blackra1n”.
- Once rebooted, find the “blackra1n” app, run it, and download Cydia. Note: Make sure you install Cydia first, reboot the iPhone, and load Cydia. I’ve heard of people running into issues if Icey or Rock are installed first.
- Enjoy! Your iPhone is jailbroken!! That’s all there is to it.
